The year 2024 marked a successful year for Bollywood, highlighted by Stree 2 reaching new milestones in the Hindi belt. Films like Munjya, Article 370, and Shaitaan also saw impressive box office performance.

Akshay Kumar faced a tough year, delivering 4 films, but 3 of them were box office flops. His only success came with Stree 2, in which he had a cameo role. Similarly, Ajay Devgn had five major releases, with only one achieving box office success.

Other Bollywood Flops of 2024

Alia Bhatt starred in the action thriller Jigra, which was made with a 90-crore budget but earned only 32.53 crores at the box office. Another major letdown was Khel Khel Mein, which grossed just 40.32 crores despite its significant 100-crore budget.

Other major disappointments this year were Merry Christmas. Crakk, Vedaa, and Sarfira.

In addition to the above, the list also includes films starring Keerthy Suresh and Varun Dhawan, is also expected to flop, given its massive 160-crore budget. With just 15.17 crores in earnings so far, it’s anticipated to finish its run below 60 crores.

Pushpa 2 (Hindi) wrapped up its fourth weekend with an incredible 908.89 crore gross at the Indian box office, breaking nearly every record. While the latest overseas numbers haven’t been reported yet, the previous collection update is still impressive.

The film generated Rs 115 crore gross in its latest earnings. With the addition of both Indian and overseas totals, the global box office now stands at an unprecedented a gross of Rs 1023.89 crore.

Pushpa 2 (Hindi) has reached the Rs 1000-crore milestone, becoming the first Hindi-dubbed South film to achieve this. It’s also the fourth Hindi film to hit this global achievement, joining Jawan, Pathaan, and Dangal.

Box Office: Varun Dhawan’s Film Falls Short of Pushpa 2’s Fourth Weekend Numbers

The audience has given the verdict of Varun Dhawan starrer Baby John. Unfortunately, despite the actor's dedicated effort, the film has been fully rejected by audiences. It began with a solid opening over the Christmas holiday, but the numbers quickly fell short in the days that followed.

Except for the opening day, the film has struggled to reach double digits on any other day. On day 5, the numbers remained disappointing, with collections not even hitting the R5 crore mark.

If you look at the trend of the recent past, making remakes have become a tough sell, with audiences showing little enthusiasm for them.

 

Box Office: Varun Dhawan’s Film Falls Short of Pushpa 2’s Fourth Weekend Numbers

The exceptions have been rare, such as Drishyam starring Ajay Devgn and Shaitaan, while most remakes, even the well-executed ones, have flopped.

Unfortunately, Varun Dhawan’s film is no exception. With a reported budget of over 150 crores, the film's earnings are disappointing.

Baby John started strong with 11.25 crores on its opening day but dropped to 5.13 crores on the second day. By day 3, earnings declined further to 3.65 crores*, though day 4 saw a small uptick with 4.25 crores.

Early trends suggest the film saw a minor increase on day 5 (Sunday), with earnings estimated at 5 crores. So far, the Bollywood action thriller has garnered approximately 29 crores net at the box office.

Baby John had a lackluster performance during its 5-day extended opening weekend, with its earnings surprisingly trailing behind the estimated 31-32 crores collected by Pushpa 2 (Hindi) in its fourth weekend.
